Hospital Facilities

Founded in Donnybrook in 1812 by the Religious Society of Friends (or Quakers), Bloomfield moved to Rathfarnham in 2005, offering a clear site upon which could be created an environment more conducive to the comfort and individualised care of patients. As a result of this, and a subsequent extension in 2009, patients can benefit from modern dining facilities, private consultation rooms, en-suite bedrooms, bright and accessible therapy suites, a library and facilities for a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, landscaped gardens and courtyards with private walkways and viewpoints.

In 2012 and 2016 Bloomfield won the Irish Accommodation Services Industry Hospital Award and, in 2015 and 2017, our on-site catering team and chefs won the national Q Mark Awards for the quality of the fresh meals prepared each day. All patients have a range of food options for each meal and a choice of dining areas based on their clinical needs.

The therapy areas include a range of facilities which offer privacy and are bright and accessible. The pastoral care requirements of each patient can be facilitated. The secluded grounds, with walk ways, are landscaped to a high specification and offer the tranquillity and privacy expected with a facility of this stature. The building and grounds offer views of both Dublin City and Bay, Rathfarnham Golf Course in addition to the surrounding countryside.
