New Lodge Nursing Home Nostalgia
The objective of New Lodge Nursing Home since its opening has been to provide tender person-centred quality care to our residents, in an environment of respect for the personal dignity, privacy and individual faith/beliefs of each person. By reason of continuing changes in nursing home practice and the revisions and pace of regulatory compliance of late, coupled with the size of our nursing home at twenty-four (24) beds, we took the difficult decision to close the home.
Our decision was taken in the best interests of the residents, families and staff as we could no longer meet the continued and appropriate level of services in an ever evolving and fluctuating situation of best practice, regulatory demands and evidenced based care. The care of the residents was and is always been our highest priority and we feel we managed the transition in a caring, sensitive and best practice manner. We acknowledge the support , engagement of the families of our residents. We also thank and acknowledge the work of our Person in Charge (PIC) and all our staff in New Lodge and across Bloomfield. We thank HCI for their assistance and support.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) were notified on the 2nd of September 2022 of the intention to voluntarily close the facility. We acknowledge the support and assistance of HIQA.
The last resident moved from New Lodge Nursing Home to personally chosen alternative accommodation on 16 December 2022.
Just to share with you all that we created a small memory book as part of the New Lodge closure. This is just a small sample of the memories of our residents. The residents and families has been very kind and shared their special memories with us. To comply with GDPR 2018 we have made the appropriate erasures to the memory board but the sentiments and expressions are unique and heartfelt and we deeply appreciate them.
