An Post initiative keeps the vulnerable connected

As the day dawned today on tighter restrictions across the country, An Post is delivering a little ray of sunshine. Its Freepost inititiative will allow anyone to send a letter, package, or parcel weighing up to 2kg to residents in nursing or convalescent homes, as well as to people in residential mental health care or facilities for the disabled.

At Bloomfield, we welcome this kind idea that encourages connection. People may be feeling more isolated as the months go on, especially those in residential care. With winter rolling in, safe outdoor pursuits will be limited. Post from a loved one – or even a stranger! – will bring warm feelings to cold, dark days.

To send post through the initiative, all you need to do is write FREEPOST where you would usually stick a stamp. You can send your mail through any post office or post box, and it will be delivered free of charge. You can take part until the end of January next year, which will take us right through Christmas.
