About Us
200 Years of Leadership in Care
Bloomfield was established in 1812, a time when those with mental health care needs were supervised with custodial care rather than cared for. Bloomfield was founded by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) who wanted to offer care in keeping with Quaker principles of dignity, compassion and social justice. Today, society's care of the vulnerable has improved immensely but Bloomfield continues to exceed standards rather than merely meet them. Bloomfield welcomes people of all faiths and none and operates on a not-for-profit basis.
