Caring for a loved one can be a
rewarding experience; however it can also be stressful at times. In order to
maintain our caring role, it is important that we ourselves are cared for,
including caring for ourselves.
Bloomfield Hospital provides quarterly
Carer Day’s which are one-day, group workshops aimed at helping carers to
better understand their own needs in the caring role and how we can learn to
look after ourselves with the changing demands of this role.
The day will provide background on dementia and will demystify some of
the terms and myths surrounding dementia. The journey of caring for a loved one
with dementia will be explored and advice provided on how to take care of your-self
when caring for another.
There will also be an opportunity for
attendees to ask questions relating to any concerns they have during our panel
discussion, which will be attended by members of our Multi-disciplinary Team.
